Our Fèis day takes place in September, during the Tarbert Music Festival, and welcomes all children aged 8-18, regardless of ability. Fèis Bheag is also offered for children aged 4-7. The day is an opportunity for individuals to come together and develop skills in the Gaelic arts – song, dance, drama, and traditional music on a wide range of instruments. Our aim is to inspire the next generation of children to play traditional music with some of Scotland’s leading musicians and tutors.
No previous experience of music is required, just an enthusiastic attitude and willingness to take part. From complete beginners to more advanced players, we aim to give all participants something that suits their ability and the opportunity to perform as part of a larger group. Workshops for 8-18 year olds will take place in various venues around the village from 10-3:30 on Saturday 16th September. Participants should select 4 workshops in any combination they choose - try something new or concentrate on a favourite instrument.
For the first time this year, we are running Meanh Fèis (transition Fèis) for seven year olds alongside the main Fèis. Just like the older group, the Meanbh Fèis group will have four workshops with the same great tutors, but will follow a fixed program and the tutors will come to them in once location. For younger children, our popular Fèis Bheag (little Fèis) will take place in the morning, with an introduction to Gaelic music and rhythms for 4-6 year olds.
September prices: Fèis and Meanh Fèis £15 , including t-shirt
Fèis Bheag £5, including T-shirt
Why should the young folk have the fun? Our tutors will be back on 17th September with our popular USC workshops for adults of all abilities from 11- 1.
